Villages to create awareness about forests and wildlife on the occasion of Holi festival. Drone cameras were also flown in the village. Masks were distributed to people and Gurkhas who were collecting flowers to prevent them from being attacked by wild animals in the forest and their benefits were explained to them.

Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve organized Annual Sport Meet 2025, an exciting event bringing together the staff of core and buffer ranges. All staff members are invited to showcase their skills and sportsmanship in a variety of events.

3rd Bird Survey 2025

The 3rd Bird Survey at Nawegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve was successfully conducted from 16th to 19th January 2025, with the participation of 65 bird enthusiasts from Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Utter Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. During the survey, a remarkable 213 bird species were recorded, showcasing the rich avian diversity of the reserve.

On the occasion of Wildlife Week 2024 at Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR) on 7th October, Shri Manohar G. Chandrikapure, Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Arjuni-Morgaon constituency, graced the event as the chief guest.

During the function, cycles were distributed to meritorious girl students of classes 9 and 10 from schools located in the buffer zone of the reserve, recognizing their academic achievements and promoting their mobility. Additionally, a special dress distribution ceremony was held for Eco-tourist guides, enhancing their professional appearance and morale. The event also marked the inauguration of a Ladies Welfare Group's initiative to produce cotton bags, aimed at reducing the use of plastic bags in tourism activities within the NNTR landscape. This initiative highlights a significant step towards promoting eco-friendly practices in the reserve's tourism efforts, fostering sustainable development and environmental conservation.

The event at Chorkhamara Gate was organised to celebrate NNTR Foundation Day. Shri Vijay Bharatlal Rahangdale, a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing the Tirora Assembly Constituency, was the chief guest for the occasion.

During the event, cycles were distributed to meritorious girl students of classes 9 and 10 from schools in the buffer zone of the Nagzira block, to support their educational journey. The "Wagh Mitra" workshop highlighted the responsibilities and duties of these volunteers, who play a crucial role in monitoring tiger movements near village areas. Their efforts, in coordination with NNTR management, aim to prevent human-wildlife conflicts and ensure the safety of both villagers and wildlife. This event underscored the community’s active participation in wildlife conservation and conflict mitigation.

On July 29, 2024, Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR) celebrated Global Tiger Day with a series of events and recognitions. The celebration included the distribution of awards for the Best Anti-Poaching Camp and the Star of the Month, honoring the exceptional efforts of frontline staff.

Appreciation certificates were also given to staff involved in the first phase of the tiger translocation process. Additionally, awards were distributed to students who excelled in painting, reel, and cycling competitions, and the Best Eco Tourist Guide award was presented, highlighting the collective dedication to tiger conservation and community engagement.

The 2nd Citizen Butterfly Survey 2024 at Nawegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve took place from 12 to 15 September 2024. This survey aimed to explore and document the rich diversity of butterfly species within various habitats of the reserve, which is located in the central Indian landscape.

Participants played a significant role in identifying key biodiversity hotspots, contributing to a deeper understanding of the delicate ecosystems within the reserve. A total of 91 butterfly species were recorded during the survey. Notably, the Common Ciliate Blue was found at two locations, marking its first-ever recorded sighting in NNTR. Other remarkable records include the Blackvein Sergeant, which is considered rare, and the Grey Veined Grass Dart, an important find for NNTR. Special mentions also include the Restricted Demon, Blue Mormon, and Long-banded Silverline, all of which highlight the ecological significance of the reserve.

On June 18-19, 2024, the Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve in Gondia organized a "Study Tour of Bhandara and Gondia District Media on Forest and Wildlife Conservation." The event included a safari tour for media personnel from Gondia and Bhandara districts.

After the safari, the Deputy Director of NNTR briefed the media on major activities conducted by the authorities in the past year. Additionally, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) demonstrated their operations and explained the use of various equipment in rescue operations. This initiative aimed to enhance media understanding and public awareness of wildlife conservation efforts in the region.

To gain in-depth knowledge of avian diversity and its habitat in the landscape, NNTR organized a 2 Bird Survey 2024. The survey took place from January 5-7, 2024, involving 50 participants from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra.

During this three-day bird survey, birders identified a total of 186 species. Highlights of the survey included the first-ever recording of the Malabar Whistling Thrush in the NNTR landscape by Vivek Patle, a birder from Maharashtra. Other notable species recorded during the survey included the Blue-capped Rock Thrush, Crested Goshawk, Indian Blackbird, and Rufous-bellied Eagle.

"Nisarga Anubhava 2024" was organized on May 22, 2024, on the occasion of Buddha Pournima. Nawegaon Nagzira Tiger Reserve was organized first time bird survey in 20, 23 January 2023. 38 participants joined us having great knowledge about identifying birds species. They were from 5th different states of India. In this bird survey 2023 NNTR has identified 217 birds species identified and documented by NNTR.
